2005 Bloxwich Ladies 1st X1 1 - Winchester, Luton 2
Hockey Association Cup - Round 2

Bloxwich were strong at the back with Jane Starczinski stopping and distributing the ball well and Vicky Harrison forcing the ball down the right hand side of the pitch to utilize Sandie Lockley's speed to force errors in the D by Winchester.  Bloxwich converted the last short corner of the first half with Nicola Lockley finding the back of the net to take the lead at half time.  Winchester put Bloxwich under pressure at the start of the second half and forced two penalty strikes one of which keeper Zoe Webb superbly saved however the second meant that Winchester drew level.  Bloxwich regrouped and with Skipper Laura Brown forcing the play forward they again scored from a short corner only to have the goal incorrectly disallowed.  Full time was all square and this went to 14 minutes extra time and despite Bloxwich having the upper hand they were unable to win the game.  Penalty strikes ensued and it was still all level after the first five were taken this then went to sudden death strikes to which Winchester were able to take the lead and go through to the third round of the cup.  A great game to which Bloxwich was the unlucky loser.  Players player keeper Zoe Webb.
